Summer is just around the corner! Which means the sun is staying out later, school is on break, and maybe you’re feeling like you can finally take a breath again. Now is the time to shed the winter blues and start fresh just like the bloom of the spring flowers. If you’re feeling lost and need some direction, here are 5 tips to building a happier and healthier you this season:
1. Set intentional goals and write them down!
Goal setting is on the top of the list when it comes to striving for success. The key point is to WRITE THEM DOWN! By writing down your goals, thoughts become solidified and you are able stay focused on the big picture. You are giving yourself a clear sense of direction that will force you to take action every time you look at them. A good place to start when identifying your goals is to first, identify your WHY or your purpose. Success needs time and effort. That means you need to pour in consistent energy to achieve what you want in life. Thus, without a strong and purposeful reason to back you up, you will give up whenever things become difficult.
2. Don’t be afraid to ask for help when you need it and share your success, no matter how little.
Asking for help allows us to surround ourselves with individuals who can bring value to our development. These individuals bring positivity to our situations and help you find a solution to future struggles. Further, by talking about your success and bringing it to the right people, you are unintentionally creating a support system for yourself. This support system will help keep you motivated and accountable which will then, increase your chances of achieving your goals.
3. Reward yourself after each milestone.
Healthy rewards, of course! These can be things like taking yourself out to dinner, buying yourself flowers, or having a nice at-home spa day for yourself or with friends. The list can go on! The road to achieving your goals isn’t meant to be miserable. These little rewards will help keep you smiling throughout your journeyJ
4. Visualizing the better YOU.
Much like writing down your goals, using visualization will help give you a clear plan of action for what you want your life to look like. Visualization creates an imaginary reality, meaning you’re training your brain to perform in a way that will support your goals. Just like exercise, the more you do it, the stronger and more powerful it becomes.
5. Be positive!
Being positive means understanding that success is not linear. You will have your bad days, but know that they will not last. Consistency, discipline, and continuing to show up for yourself will teach you how to persevere when, and if things get tough. The point is to never give up!
Regardless of how little your progress is, just remember that any progress, IS progress! YOU GOT THIS!
